Search for the chord by name, or use the category filters to browse major, minor, 7th, maj7, sus, diminished and augmented families. Selecting a chord opens its detail view with the notes it contains and, on guitar, the fingering diagram for the shape.

Every chord has a play control that sounds the chord using the same instrument voice as the simulators. On guitar it is strummed across the strings, and on piano the notes are struck together, so you hear the chord the way you would actually play it.

Start with the open chords C, G, D, Em and Am, which between them cover a huge number of popular songs. Once you can change between them cleanly, add F and Dm, and then begin exploring 7th chords to add colour to your progressions.

Once you know a few shapes, open the Song Builder for your instrument and add those chords to a sequence. Set a tempo, choose a strumming or playing style, and loop the result so you can practise changing between the chords in time with the playback.

The piano page includes note labels for learning key names, a Mark mode for selecting and replaying specific notes, octave controls to move up and down the keyboard, and a volume control. These tools let you turn free play into focused practice on a particular scale, chord or passage.
