Piano Practice Songs

The library holds over 60 playable songs, spanning traditional and nursery tunes, classical themes, folk melodies, technique exercises and Indian sargam pieces. Every song is public domain, an original exercise, or CC0, and each one comes with real note data so it can be played back note by note in the browser.

Use the filters at the top of the library to narrow songs by difficulty (Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced), by category, and by instrument. Beginners should start with the Beginner traditional and nursery songs, which use short phrases and a small range of notes before moving on to classical and folk arrangements.

Open a song to see its notes, key, tempo and time signature, and listen to the playback so you know how the melody should sound. Learn it a phrase at a time rather than end to end, slow the tempo down until the notes are accurate, and only then bring it back up to speed. Using the metronome alongside keeps your timing honest.

Most songs list the instruments they suit, and many work on both piano and guitar. The piano and guitar hubs each have their own filtered song pages, and you can also load library songs straight into the Piano or Guitar Song Builder to hear them with a chord accompaniment behind the melody.

The whole library is free to browse and play, with no account, sign-up or installation required. It runs entirely in your web browser, so you can open a song and start practising immediately on a desktop, tablet or phone.
